La cuestión de la identidad digital hereda los debates habidos en la psicología, la filosofía y las ciencias sociales. El Yo, sea lo que sea; aquello que nos hace ser Yo y no Otro; aquello que nos EGOcentra y evita que nos ALTERemos.; aquello que nos permite auto-presentarnos y ALTERnar también en la Red –también digitalmente- proponiéndonos un ALTEREGO.

Manos_EcherALTER. -¡Saludos EGO! Quiero hablar CONTIGO. Necesito –amigo- apaciguar MI mente aprendiendo de TÍ.
-EGO. –Hola ALTER ¿Qué TE ocurre? ¿y por qué piensas que YO tengo la capacidad de ayudarTE?
ALTER. –Sé que TÚ, EGO, siempre eres TÚ; firme, estable, tenaz, consecuente, previsible y coherente. YO ahora necesito ser también así.
-EGO. –Bueno, sí, no sé; también algunos se aburren COMIGO o LES parezco monótono. Hay OTROS que dicen que soy un sin-sal y un sin-gracia y MI pareja un día ME dijo que era un triste, así, como sustancia, no como atributo. ¡Ah! Y también dice que soy un EGOísta EGOcéntrico y EGÓlatra. ¿TU estás seguro de que puedo ayudarTE?
ALTER. –Veras, creo que TÚ y YO podemos ayudarnos mutuamente. Necesito algo de coherencia en MIS presentaciones y respuestas y, quizá, TU necesitas algo más de variedad y ALTERarte un poco.
-EGO. –No sé. Sí. Cuando YO era pequeño MI padre constantemente ME decía que ALTERarse era malo. Luego fui creciendo cada vez con menos ALTERaciones; ME hice más tranquilo.
ALTER. –Veras, bueno YO no pretendo que TE ALTERes, EGO, bueno, no para siempre. Solo digo que podrías ALTERnar un poco más; dejarían de considerarTE aburrido y EGOísta.
-EGO. -¿ALTERnar? ¿con quién y dónde?
ALTER. –Con OTROS; siempre se ALTERna con OTROS y es divertido y UNO se siente bien. Y dónde…; puede ser en la Red.
-EGO. -¿Qué tendría que hacer?
ALTER. –TE ayudaré encantado en cualquier caso. Además TÚ también ME puedes ayudar a MÍ.
-EGO. -¿Cómo?
ALTER. –TÚ, puedes enseñarME a mostrar más coherencia auto-referencial y a formar una visión más EGOcéntrica y unificada de MIS actividades e intereses, en el mundo y en la Red.
EGO. –Sí, pero si cuando YO era pequeño ME mostraba más ALTERado que ahora, lo que TE ocurre a TI, no será una cuestión de juventud… TU eres más joven que YO, por lo que para dejar de ALTERarte tanto, solo tienes que madurar un poco más…
ALTER. –Seguro que ocurrirá como dices, pero también es posible co-educarnos y co-reconstruirnos, aprender el UNO del OTRO.
-EGO. – ¡Pero si el OTRO eres TÚ!
ALTER. –Pues eso digo. ¿Y YO?
-EGO. –TÚ, gradualmente, tienes que ALTERarte menos. Creo que siempre quieres ser OTRO. Estás muy ocupado siendo OTRO y no logras ser TÚ. Ser OTRO –ALTERarse- lleva mucho tiempo y esfuerzo, mientras que ser TÚ, o ser UNO mismo, sale solo sin ningún esfuerzo.
ALTER. –Pero, en MI caso, hasta ahora, YO era YO siempre siendo OTRO casi como un camaleón.
-EGO. –Ya, ¿y cómo se llama ese camaleón?Ojo-Echer
ALTER. –Z e l i g -claro-
-EGO. –Claro-. Bueno, sólo tendrías que cansarTE (rendirTE) de emplear tiempo y energía y recursos personales en ser quien no eres (ser OTRO). Cuando hagas eso, repentinamente, tendrás todo ese tiempo y energía. La podrás emplear sin ningún esfuerzo para ser quien, TÚ, eres.
ALTER. –Mmmmm, entiendo que llegaría a ser quien ME haya gustado ser.
-EGO. –Sí y no. TU serás quien TE guste ser, pero solo cuando consigas que TE guste -y aceptes a- quien ya eres.
ALTER. –Mmmm, ¿Pero, tendré que dejar a las personas que conozco?
-EGO. –Puede que a algun@s pero encontrarás a otr@s conforme a como, TÚ, ya eres y TE gusta ser. También serás un pelín más EGOísta.
ALTER. -Ya sé; y, TÚ, TE divertirás y ALTERnarás más; podrás hacerlo sin ALTERarte demasiado.
-EGO. –Siempre que no soy YO me ALTERo. ¿Cómo lo haré?
ALTER. –ConstrúyeTE un ALTEREGO digital. Haz que muestre algunas características digitales de las que todavía hoy no forman parte de TI pero que TE gustarían que lo fueran. ConstrúyeTE un ALTEREGO digital de forma semejante a como ya TE construiste ese YO tuyo, EGO, al final de TU desarrollo.
-EGO. –¡Hecho! MI YO digital.
ALTER. -¡Ego!, será como TU YO, pero más YO, más cantidad de YO, en cierto sentido, mejor YO, más digital YO; ALTEREGO, fresco, dinámico, hiper-coherente cuando, TÚ, quieras, y ALTERado cuando TU quieras.

    El juego “Second Life” sería el grado máximo de alteración. Según el enfoque de esta historia, sería un juego altamente recomendable para el desarrollo de la identidad. Nos permitiría “alterarnos” hasta el límite.
