MUJERES EN LA RED

Si se puede ser todo no se es nada a priori. En una espléndida noche de verano madrileña mantuvimos durante la cena una conversación en torno a las ventajas que para una mujer tiene un entorno interactivo en el cual puede despojarse de su identidad de género (aquélla que nos hace, entre otras cosas, incompetentes ante los planos e invisibles a los cincuenta). Le pedí que redactara su análisis con el objetivo de iniciar en nuestro blog la reflexión en torno a las posibilidades que abre para las mujeres y para otros colectivos el debilitamiento en la red de los marcos identitarios.
¿Cómo se comporta un hombre que mantiene una identidad femenina en la red? ¿Cuáles son sus referentes para definir el comportamiento adecuado a la identidad que desea mantener en este momento? ¿Y al revés? ¿Cómo se comporta una mujer que finge ser un hombre en sus relaciones virtuales? ¿Tiene el género algo que ver incluso con la suplantación de la identidad del sexo contrario? Pero además de estas preguntas hay una que me parece más útil ¿por qué y para qué se hace? ¿Qué ventajas representa suplantar al sexo contrario?
La historia y la creación literaria y cinematográfica, nos ofrecen ejemplos de mujeres que para ser ellas mismas tuvieron que presentarse como hombres. Seudónimos masculinos de autoras, cortes de pelo, vendado de tórax, incluso en algunos casos un matrimonio conveniente con un científico mediocre, han sido instrumentos de ayuda para poder escribir, estudiar, investigar, guerrear, en definitiva, para estar en espacios que estaban vedados a la presencia y participación de mujeres.
¿Todas estas mujeres tenían un problema de identidad sexual? Yo creo que no. Es cierto que las cosas han cambiado, que vivimos en otro tiempo, que sobre el papel los derechos y el acceso a diferentes ámbitos se ha equilibrado para mujeres y hombres, pero quedan muchos creencias y valores residuales de otros tiempos que determinan comportamientos sociales de mujeres y de hombres.
En relación con las nuevas tecnologías, por ejemplo, el trabajo de Cecilia Castaño[1], muestra diferencias significativas en el uso y percepción de la utilidad de la tecnología entre mujeres y hombres, incluso entre los grupos de edad más joven, donde podríamos suponer que las cosas están cambiando. Con estas diferencias de partida, resulta lógico pensar que el género (por cierto, concepto virtual donde lo haya), pueda tener más de una implicación en la interacción social que se produce a través de las nuevas tecnologías. Las implicaciones se extenderán, además, a la forma de acceder, usar y aprovechar cualquier novedad en este sentido.
Las diferencias que se producen entre mujeres y hombres en el uso de la tecnología, derivadas en muchos casos del mandato cultural del género y, por lo tanto, con lo definido socialmente como correcto para lo femenino y lo masculino, han de ser tenidas en cuenta en el diseño de nuevos avances. Resulta imprescindible si se desea que el resultado, es decir, el uso, aprovechamiento y percepción de utilidad, reporte un beneficio equivalente, sea cual sea el sexo de las personas, en este caso. Historia a parte es determinar si estamos en presencia de cuestiones relativas a la identidad o, en realidad, son cuestiones relacionadas con los estereotipos que definen y encorsetan los comportamientos sociales que consideramos adecuados y que nos impiden tener lo que realmente queremos.
Volviendo al principio, cuando suplantamos la identidad del otro sexo ¿no será que estamos buscando algo que se nos niega socialmente desde lo que somos?

Se me ocurre otro “cliché” femenino. ¿Quién se siente identificada con ese tipo de mujeres tan apasionadas, tan entregadas, tan poco racionales, tan impulsivas, tan graciosas…?. Yo no, desde luego.
Perdón, me refería al cliché de las “CHICAS ALMODOVAR”.
Uniendo con otras entradas del blog en torno a la “cognición corporeizada”, se me ocurre que una diferencia especialmente interesante para una mujer es la posibilidad de interactuar sin que se vea su cuerpo.
Protesto. También hay clichés masculinos de los cuales los hombres querríamos librarnos. También la red es interesante para nosotros en este sentido.
Escribí precipitadamente la nota en el espacio generosamente cedido por Pilar Gallo. Me gustaría aportar, siguiendo los comentarios que hay, que creo que la red puede ayudarnos a desprendernos de limitaciones para el desarrollo individual derivadas de la carga de género. Si, Rafael, también a los hombres. Pero la red se desarrolla en un contexto social determinado, con unas relaciones determinadas. La idea de qué es un hombre o qué es una mujer, como se comporta y qué se espera de ella, no sólo se define a través de lo que somos cada una de las personas, sino a la construcción simbólica que socialmente hemos acordado sobre qué es un hombre o una mujer.
